Georgia is the largest peanut producer in the United States. There are several market types of peanut varieties available—Spanish, Valencia, Virginia, and Runners. All can be grown in Georgia, but Runner types are most common.
They benefit from irrigation, but can be produced as a dryland crop. Peanuts have a well-developed root system allowing them to scavenge soil nutrients effectively.
