Oats

Oats are commonly planted in Georgia for grain, forage, or as a cover crop. They are generally less cold-hardy than other winter forages, but there are varietal differences. Herbicide options are more restricted than for other small grains. Crown rust can be a problem, but they are not a host for Hessian fly.
